On July 4, President Trump signed H.R. 1, the “One Big Beautiful Bill Act.” The Act creates a new fee regime for matters before USCIS and EOIR and for certain people apprehended by DHS. Qualifying for Protection Under the Convention Against Torture

Protection under the Convention Against Torture (CAT) is an important relief option for individuals who are unable to qualify for asylum or withholding of removal. This advisory reviews the legal standard for CAT protection.
